Meet Michael, Collections Specialist and Employee of the Quarter at ALLIANCE!
Michael started at ALLIANCE in April of 2019 as the Collections Specialist. In his role, Michael deals with everything relating to collections. He monitors accounts to identify outstanding debts, finds and contacts debtors to arrange debt payoffs, and does this all while maintaining trustful relationships and ensuring timely payments.
Michael is passionate about the credit union movement because of his ability to help our members. “Collections isn't known for being the most exciting department to deal with, but even in my position you get to help people; especially during times like this.” Another one of his big motivators for working at ALLIANCE is his team. “I really enjoy the great attitudes that you come to. Everyone here is great to work with. Even if you come to work with stuff on your mind, the people around you always pick you up.”
When asked about who Michael admires, he said his parents. “They taught me and my siblings to always work hard, stay humble, and to respect others.” Michael has brought these principles into the workplace which is part of why he was awarded Employee of the Quarter!
During his time at ALLIANCE, Michael has grown some of his skills and interests. The most impactful skill he has improved on is his people skills. “I’m always talking to people about different situations and where they’re having issues and growing my people skills has helped me resolve issues in the best manner possible.”
Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife, working around the house, and watching Texas Tech and the Kansas City Chiefs!
Looking into the future, Michael is most excited for the growth ALLIANCE has been experiencing. “ALLIANCE is growing rapidly, so with that, all departments are growing. We’ve added another person to collections. It’s great to see ALLIANCE become one of the best credit unions in the area.”
