Certificates are a great asset for our members to bolster funds for the future with high yields in short periods of time. ALLIANCE is a not-for-profit member-owned financial cooperative; this allows our credit union to offer better rates than other for-profit financial institutions.

Now, what is a certificate? Certificates offer our members a low-risk way to increase their savings over a fixed term. These terms range anywhere from 6 months to 5 years, and you cannot touch your money throughout its duration. Penalties will be assessed if you choose to withdraw money or "break" your certificate during this term. During the life of your certificate, you earn a fixed percentage yield or Annual Percentage Yield (APY) that is given to you upon completion of the certificate's term. Certificates are beneficial and allow you to earn a higher yield on your funds than a savings account.

At ALLIANCE, certificates require a minimum balance of $1,000 to earn APY but do not have a maximum balance, allowing you to put as much money in as you like. ALLIANCE insures these funds up to $500,000 through American Share Insurance and Excess Share Insurance Corporation. Ensuring even in the most tragic economic catastrophes your funds are protected up to this amount.

Certificates are a great asset that provide security and savings to our members while providing a greater return on your funds than a standard savings account. Members are able to open certificates for future events such as birthdays, vacations, weddings, and retirement. If you are holding onto your savings for future goals and want to store your money where you know it's safe, secure and you'll receive your money back with dividends, consider an ALLIANCE certificate today!
