Building Strong Financial Futures: Celebrating Youth Financial Literacy Month

April is Youth Financial Literacy Month, a time dedicated to helping young people develop the knowledge and confidence they need to make smart financial decisions. At ALLIANCE Credit Union, we believe financial education should start early, and we’re proud to support students across our communities through hands-on learning experiences and educational programs.

Financial literacy is more than just learning how to save money—it’s about building the skills needed to manage budgets, understand credit, and make informed financial choices throughout life. That’s why our team works directly with local schools and educators to make financial education engaging, interactive, and practical for students.

Cash Club in Schools

One of the ways ALLIANCE supports financial literacy is through our Cash Club program, which brings banking basics directly into the classroom. Through Cash Club, students learn important lessons about saving, spending wisely, and setting financial goals. By introducing these concepts early, we help students develop healthy financial habits that can last a lifetime.

Reality Fairs

ALLIANCE also hosts and participates in Reality Fairs, interactive events that give students a glimpse into real-world financial decision-making. During these events, students are assigned a career, income, and life scenario, then visit different stations representing expenses like housing, transportation, groceries, and childcare.

Students quickly learn how choices impact their budget and how important it is to balance spending, saving, and planning for unexpected expenses. These events are always a favorite because they allow students to experience real-life financial decisions in a fun and memorable way.

In-Class Financial Education

Our team also partners with local schools to provide in-class financial education sessions throughout the year. These presentations cover topics such as budgeting, saving, credit, and avoiding common financial pitfalls. By

bringing real-world experience into the classroom, we help students better understand how financial decisions today can impact their future.

Investing in Our Communities

At ALLIANCE Credit Union, supporting our communities goes beyond banking services. We believe that empowering young people with financial knowledge is one of the most meaningful ways we can invest in the future.

During Youth Financial Literacy Month and throughout the year, our team remains committed to providing resources, education, and opportunities that help students build confidence in managing their money.

Because when young people understand their finances, they gain the tools they need to succeed for a lifetime.
