Jim Wheeler
It has been my privilege to be on the Board of the United Texas Credit Union since 2015. During that time, I have a perfect attendance record; I have served as a manager on the CUSO Board; and I have been Board Treasurer and Chair of the ALCO Committee for the last several years.
In addition to my service on the UTXCU Board, I have participated with and served on Boards for various civic organizations and HOAs in Colorado and Texas. Of note, I served as a Director for the San Antonio LightHouse for the Blind for two terms and was elected Vice Chairman in addition to serving as Chair of the CEO Search Committee.
My recent Board experience extends beyond Texas. Specifically, I served as a Director for the Association of Graduates of the United States Air Force Academy three times. During my last term, I was Chairman and presided over the many activities related to expanding the staff for an organization growing in national importance.
I have Academic credentials that have been useful during my tenure as a Director for UTXCU. I earned a Bachelor of Science (Engineering Science) from the United States Air Force Academy; a Master of Arts (Political Science / International Politics) from the University of North Carolina; and a Master of Science (Systems Management) degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology. I was a Distinguished Graduate in all programs.
Professionally, I held a variety of positions in program management and financial services while on active duty and in the private sector after retiring from the Air Force. I participated in the management of several major Air Force weapon systems. Of note, I was the Program Manager of a successful Foreign Military Sales program with the Swiss government for the procurement of 72 F5-E/F aircraft. I was a Vice President at the USAA Federal Savings Bank for five years and managed at various times the Marketing Department and the Mortgage Services Department. After USAA, I was Executive Vice President for Development and Institutional Advancement at St. Leo University in Florida and followed that with several years at Merrill Lynch Investments. In my last position before retiring, I served as President and COO of the Lions Sight Research Foundation of Lions District 2A2, a nonprofit corporation charged with providing vision screening services to South Texas, sponsoring vision research, and operating a Low Vision Center at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio.
Anthony Sanchez
I have been a proud resident of the Dallas–Fort Worth area for more than 40 years, and my commitment to serving my community has shaped both my career and my volunteer leadership. For over 33 years, I have worked for the United States Postal Service, holding a variety of roles that strengthened my skills in customer service, communication, and strategic relationship‑building. My experience includes serving as a Business Service Network Representative, where I supported business customers and ensured they understood the full range of USPS services and resources. I later transitioned into the role of Business Development Specialist, representing the organization at events and networking opportunities. I currently serve as a Sales Executive, identifying revenue opportunities, building partnerships, and representing the Postal Service in the marketplace.
Alongside my professional career, I have dedicated 23 years to credit union governance across three boards. My service began at First Class Credit Union in Fort Worth, where I spent 18 years in multiple leadership roles, including Vice Chairman. I later joined the Board of Directors at United Texas Credit Union in San Antonio, serving for more than four years until its merger with ALLIANCE Credit Union in January 2026. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of credit union operations, regulatory responsibilities, and the importance of member‑driven decision‑making.
I am seeking the opportunity to serve on the ALLIANCE Credit Union Board because I believe strongly in cooperative values—people helping people. Credit unions exist to improve the financial well‑being of their members, and I want to use my experience, leadership, and commitment to service to help advance that mission. Serving on the board is a meaningful way to make a tangible difference in the lives of members and the communities we support.
