Email Fraud

ALLIANCE Credit Union has been made aware of recent fraud attempts targeting mortgage members. In one case, a member reported a suspicious email attempting to redirect mortgage closing funds. This email appeared legitimate as it hosted an ALLIANCE employee’s email signature.

Final Notice Mailer

Some members have reported receiving “Final Notice” letters by mail claiming to offer a home warranty secured by ALLIANCE Credit Union. These notices are not affiliated with ALLIANCE.

If you receive any communication that seems unusual or pressures you to act quickly, pause and contact ALLIANCE directly at 1-800-687-4328.

  1. At times, we may notify you of a suspicious transaction and request your verification of this transaction.
  2. You may receive a text, call, or email notifying you of potential fraud activity.

We’ll help you cancel any compromised card, change your account numbers, and add password protection to your account for future transactions.

  1. We will never call to ask for your account number.
  2. We will never email you directing you to a website to “verify” your personal or account information.
  3. We will never text you directing you to call a number to “verify” your personal or account information.
  4. We will never ask for your password or PIN.

If you receive these types of communications from someone purporting to be from ALLIANCE, you are dealing with a scam artist. DO NOT REPLY TO THESE REQUESTS.

If you believe you’ve been a victim of fraudulent activity, call our Contact Center immediately at 1-800-687-4328.

ALLIANCE Mortgage Closing Process

At mortgage closing, the borrower receives the Closing Disclosure (CD), which shows the final amount of money needed to close. If funds are required, the borrower may either:
Bring a cashier’s check made payable to the title company, or
Personally call the title company using a verified phone number to obtain wiring instructions
We strongly advise against relying on emailed wiring instructions, as email is a common method used by fraudsters to impersonate trusted parties.

Taking these precautions helps reduce the risk of wire fraud and ensures your funds are delivered securely to the correct account.

If you ever receive an email, call, or text regarding changes to closing instructions, or if something feels unusual, please pause and contact your ALLIANCE
Mortgage team or the title company directly using a known, trusted phone number.

Thank you for helping us keep your account and your closing secure. We are grateful to our members who look out for one another and help keep our community safe.

Sincerely,
ALLIANCE Credit Union Mortgage Team
